Production Reflection

Q1. How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?

Q2. How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Distribution will be easy as we can fund advertisements on highly used social media platforms such as YouTube and Instagram. I have picked these specifically because of how the ads are portrayed. Many platforms have ads on the side of their pages as you scroll and they infrequently pass by. With Instagram, the ad is placed in the path of your entertainment so as you scroll it will take the entire page and interrupt the viewer’s thoughts. Same goes for YouTube as the ad is placed at the start of a video as an either interactive skippable ad or an un-skippable ad. These types of ads are the most effective and if advertised properly, can gain huge viewership.

Q3. How did your production skills develop throughout this project?

I just further enhanced my current skills at editing, logo design and technology use. I did this through adapting to use multiple software to edit, and then using my past knowledge to create the logo as a form of testing. My technology use has in general improved from average use and so has blog publishing along with it.

Q4. How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?

To transfer files we used Google Drive and shared the created folder over email. As for group collaboration we didn’t end up making any chat rooms etc. as we thought it not necessary to and just proceeded to catch up with the project in class. This did challenge our group the most as we had chronologically sequenced time off school. This meant 1 person on our group would get sick and as they recovered, another got sick or injured. We ended up having to make the group roles reflect our strengths to quickly and efficiently work together in the little time we had left. This meant we never really involved ourselves in each other’s work and only focused on our own.
