The Beginning usually starts with some form of action to grab the audience's attention and introduce the antagonist and the conflict.
The Middle usually contains the back and forth conflict between the protagonist and the antagonist, as well as exploring deeper into the characters' backstories.
The End usually comes to a conclusion where the antagonist is gone or alternatively, the problem remains, but is unknown to the other characters in the film, building a dramatic irony and a cliffhanger.
The targeted audience is normally between the teens and adults, as some scenes might be inappropriate for any ages younger and older audience members might not be as interested in thriller films.
The audience can expect an intense film that gives them great stimulation, or, thrill.
In thriller films, Symbolism can bring a whole new level to the complexity and the story, it can hint at certain ideas to the audience without affecting the storyline, as well as giving them another element that can bring excitement and thrill.
Characterization is commonly presented not just by the person but also by their clothing and actions. More often than not, characters' clothes or actions will match their personality and help the audience understand them more without using more time to specifically show them.
Settings and Props are often used to promote the theme and mood of the current scene in the film. For example, in the film Knives Out, the old and dark look of the mansion conveys to the audience that it is not very normal and that something will go wrong very soon, as it helps promote the spooky tone of the film opening.
Music and Sounds are also huge factors in setting the theme and the tone for the scene. In Knives Out, the happy and royal music quickly sped up and amplifies as the character walks through the mansion. This helps build suspense and builds on the theme already set by the location and the props.
A thriller combines together the ideas of tension, intrigue and suspense. The general characterization of the different archetypes within a thriller is represented through the variety of characters within a movie.
Hero vs Villain is a common character archetype seen in modern films, the idea of a protagonist being the "Hero" and an antagonist being the "Villain" as they struggle against each other throughout the film.
There are other great examples of how characters are presented in films, such as The Hunger Games, in the chariot scene, the detailed costume design and the effects make the character stand out and boast to the audience her brilliance.
